Rained Out But Undefeated

Just a quick check-in with my Whole30 plan at yesterday's ballgame.

Well, I should say yesterday's rainout, because there was no ballgame in Chicago on Monday.

HOWEVER, despite yesterday's rain, cold and generally miserable feel, I stayed 100 percent on plan all day, even when my brother sat down next to me with a fresh piece of pizza. Did I think I wanted some? Yes. Did I have to talk myself out going to get one for myself? No — because I never even considered straying, even while surrounded by stadium food.

It's a cliche for a reason: preparation is key.

The hard part was beer. We hit up a neighborhood dive before the game and I stuck to bottled water. I noticed I was a bit grumpy and maybe that was why. Miller Lite doesn't really do it for me, anyway, and I'm feeling great while I write this, so I must have just been missing out on the communal factor of drinking. It also might have been the strange looks I got from my family when I pulled out a Lara bar.

I planned pretty well because when I got home I still had food leftover. I had plenty to tide me over. I loved the jerky sticks I picked up at Whole Foods, and my apples and almond butter hit the spot as well. I didn't even need the spare Lara bar, apple and banana.

Plus, now that I know I can carry food in, it will be a great way to save money at the ballpark going forward! (#FinancialFreedom!)
